solo work - childish waltz for solo oboe.
I wrote this originally in the ECU library with a keyboard on garageband on my phone, silently humming the tune and figuring out the chord structure on a page of my scratchbook. It's very reminicent of the water level theme from Mario and tropes that I've found in my own pieces, including but not limited to chromatically descending bass lines, the III chord leading to the vi and a 3/4 time signature. I chose oboe because it's almost like a flute, the instrument I originally planned for this to be made for, but low flute is really hard to hear and high flute requires a lot of ledger lines, and the woody tone of an oboe is pleasant to me and I love it.
The orginal concept of the piece.
