the suburban tragedy of an overturned shopping trolley, longing for the cheese aisle.
So every year there's this composition competition at WAAPA where a bunch of composers write for orchestra, and then a select few get their pieces rehearsed, and then finally the winner is chosen and performed at a later date. I did not win (it went to the lovely Raph Luxton, who 100% deserved it) but it did make it to the rehearsal phase, and it got recorded so y'know, that's cool. I'm also very proud of this piece, it did what I needed it to do and it feels like a step in the right direction in my orchestral writing skills.

the murdoch trilogy.
I didn't really do too much outside of the rigorous program of the composition course due to having approximately zero (0) time to do so, but I did get asked if I could write some songs to play for my friend Nathan Cattel, who needed a band to record for his sound recording course at Murdoch. I asked some high school friends if they were down to play, I got three yeses (yesi?) and one turning up, which is fine and doable, it just meant I had to (attempt to) play a tom drum and trumpet simultaneously while Jackson McBride shredded on synth. It was a fun experience, and there is talk about doing more music like that with Jackson and myself plus a couple others in the future...
warning: this is the hardest stuff to listen to on the album. have fuuunnn. also world's worst wedding band is my favourite song i've made, i will never not laugh at it.
